Despite a difference in size and stature, the Chinese Taipei Womens Ice Hockey team recorded a 3-0 victory against the New Zealand Ice Fernz, in the first game of the International Ice Hockey Federation tournament in Romania.

The Chinese Taipei scored their first goal from a power play move 15 minutes into the game.

Two further goals, one as a breakaway, cemented the victory.

The game New Zealand MVP award went to Jaimie Jones, who played with confidence and presence.

The New Zealand Ice Fernz return to Brasov rink tomorrow, for a 4.30pm game (Wednesday
2.30am start) against Team Iceland.
